Clinical education & training

Because of our unique mix of clinical staff, our clinical practices adhere to a combination of:

• Order of St John Ambulance New Zealand: Clinical Practice Guidelines
• ‍Accepted practice and relevant guidelines from specialist medical training in emergency medicine, intensive care medicine and anaesthesia.
• Internally authorised Standard Operating Procedures which we aim to regularly review and update.

All of our doctors are registered (either vocationally or generally) with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Vocationally registered doctors are specialists in either:

• Emergency Medicine (Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine - ACEM)
• Intensive Care Medicine (Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine - CICM)
• Anaesthesia (Fellowship of the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthesia – ANZCA)

We are also the only aeromedical service in the country providing a training fellowship in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine. This training fellowship is accredited for training doctors with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine.
