Pete's Story - Pauanui

Assisting a patient fast can mean the difference between life and death. On the day of Pete’s medical event, flooding made the roads into Pauanui impassable. The most time-efficient way to provide Pete with urgent medical care (and assist a second resident) was by rescue helicopter. Pete felt stabbing pains in his chest. “I noticed my heart rate was way above where it should’ve been and my blood pressure was elevated,” he says. Pete made the call for help. Once stabilised, Pete flew with crew who insisted he get, “checked out.” He is very grateful for their service and care.
