Avid motorcross rider Rob Fistonich knew something was seriously wrong the moment he landed a jump at the wrong angle, hitting a deep cow rut with such force that it twisted his bike’s front wheel and handlebars – and snapped his leg. Rob and his brother Alex had been riding their motorcross bikes on a mate’s farm in Topuni. Both brothers sat it out and were very thankful to hear the sound of the chopper. The helicopter found a spot to land in a paddock nearby. Rob spent about three days in hospital. And when he came out, he had lots of stitches but he still had the use of his leg.
Now recovered, Rob says he doesn’t know what they would have done without the helicopter being there, with access being impossible for an ambulance due to the terrain. Both brothers want to say thank you to the crew for helping them out that day. We are glad to hear that Rob is back out riding again.
