From a well-equipped and spacious home workshop, filled with lots of eclectic items (including a very cool retro jukebox), Tim O’Connor is busy building a minibike from scratch to auction off at the annual Hibiscus Rodders Beach Festival to raise money for the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopters.
It’s something Tim has always wanted to do through his business to finally align with his interest and emotional connection to the charity. Tim’s Dad, Kerry has needed the service (read Kerry’s story below).
Tim is building from scratch a mini bike design which is a ‘chopper style’. He’s going to modify it to increase its value when it goes to auction. Having started his business four years ago he has finally got to the point where he is able to do a charity giveaway. The build will take him about two months and once completed will be able to carry a rider up to 100kg. On auction day, he’d like to get as much for it as possible with 100% of proceeds being given to our charity so that we can continue to help save lives.
The popular Hibiscus Rodders Beach Festival will be held on Auckland Anniversary Weekend 24-26 January 2025 at Orewa Reserve. www.roddersbeachfestival.co.nz
