Sean's Story - Great Barrier Island

Sean enjoys living ‘off-grid’ and never thought he’d need our help. Borrowing his neighbours’ ride-on mower, Sean’s ‘undoing’ came from hives at the end of his paddock. Inadvertently, he’d entered the bees’ flight path. Used to being stung, he’d tried freeing them from his hair but, unfortunately, suffered his first severe allergic reaction. With swollen tongue, Sean struggled asking for help. Given two adrenalin shots by rallying services, Sean then passed out. He awoke to find helicopter crew by his side. Shaking from shock and adrenaline, Sean knows another 10 minutes without intervention, he wouldn’t be sharing his story today.
